How to choose a plantation shutter

It is the attention to detail, not cutting corners with the timbers, paints or PVC used in the manufacturing, where it counts.

With timber shutters, ensuring that the shutters are 100% solid, full timber throughout shutter. There are many products out there that are a lesser quality timber, veneered in a more expensive timber and claiming to be ‘basswood’ shutters, for example.

Timbers used in our plantation shutters online is harvested from a responsible resource and FSC certified. FSC certification (from the Forest Stewardship Council), mean that the timber is certified to be sourced from sustainable forestry, a renewable conservation; milled and manufactured in an environmentally sound way. Our paints

The two main types of paint used in our plantation shutters online is a water based paint and a 2-pack polyurethane based paint.

2-pack polyurethane paint is the same type of paint used in premium kitchens and cars. It is an extremely tough paint, has an impeccably smooth finish and extremely easy to keep clean. A proper 2-pack paint is also UV stabilised, to ensure the colour remains constant, even in direct sun – which for a plantation shutter is a definite requirement.

Water Based Paint is a more complex paint process that is less forgiving in the application process. This method requires extremely well trained painters that can deliver a consistent, smooth; reliable paint finish.
